Privacy policy

This policy covers balancetransfercalculator.com. It is short because the site does very little with data, and it is written plainly because a privacy policy nobody can read is not a disclosure.

What the calculator does with what you type

Nothing you enter into the calculator is sent to a server. The whole tool runs in your browser. Balances, APRs, fees, intro periods and payment amounts are calculated on your own device and are never transmitted, stored or logged by this site.

Your inputs are encoded into the page address so that a calculation can be reloaded or shared. That URL stays in your browser's address bar and history like any other web address. It becomes visible to someone else only if you send it to them yourself, so it is worth remembering that a shared link carries your figures with it. Clearing the inputs or opening the site fresh leaves nothing behind.

Cookies

This site sets two cookies, both belonging to the Google Analytics measurement described below. They are first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_J2X57RMJLC. Each holds a randomly generated number that tells one browser apart from another; neither holds your name, your email address or anything you typed into a calculator. They expire two years after your last visit.

Nothing you enter into a calculator is written to a cookie, to local storage or to any similar browser store. There are no advertising cookies and no cookies set by anyone other than this site and Google Analytics.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get read. It records the page you viewed, the page that referred you, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and your device, browser and language. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your full IP address. Nothing you type into a calculator is sent to Google: the figures stay in your browser, as described above.

Google processes this data on the site's behalf and may do so outside your own country. Google describes its own handling in How Google uses information from sites that use our services. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site that uses it with Google's browser add-on, or block www.googletagmanager.com in a content blocker, and this site will keep working normally.

Analytics is the only third-party script on the site. There is no tag manager, no advertising or social tracking pixel, no remarketing tag, no embedded third-party widget and no externally hosted font. Every other asset a page loads comes from this domain. Analytics does not run on the local development build or on the .pages.dev preview copies of the site.

Accounts and email

There are no accounts, no logins and no newsletter. Nothing on this site asks for a name, an email address, a phone number, an income figure, a Social Security number or any part of one. If you choose to email [email protected], that message and your address sit in an ordinary email inbox and are used only to reply to you. Correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful and is never sold, rented or used for marketing.

Hosting logs

The site is a set of static files hosted on Cloudflare Pages. As with any web host, Cloudflare's infrastructure processes standard request information in order to serve the page and to protect against attacks and abuse. That typically includes the IP address the request came from, the time, the page requested, the browser's user agent string and rough country-level location. This is handled by Cloudflare under its own privacy terms, is retained for a limited period, is not used by this site to build any profile, and is not combined with anything you type into the calculator, which never leaves your device in the first place.

Children

The site is aimed at adults dealing with credit card debt and is not directed at children. Since nothing is collected from anyone, nothing is collected from children either.

California readers

California law gives residents rights to know what personal information a business collects about them, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. This site does not collect personal information from visitors, does not sell or share it, and does not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so in practice there is nothing held to disclose, correct or delete. Anyone who wants that confirmed in writing can ask at the email address above and will get a straight answer. No one will be treated differently for asking.

EU and UK readers

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection over personal data about you. Nothing you type into a calculator leaves your browser, so those rights have nothing to attach to there. Where data does exist, it is limited to three things: the Google Analytics measurement described above, which is tied to a cookie identifier rather than to you by name; an email you chose to send, handled on the basis of responding to your own enquiry; and the standard server logs described above, kept by the host on the basis of its legitimate interest in delivering and securing the site. Requests about any of them can be sent to the email address above, and analytics can be switched off entirely with the opt-out link in the analytics section. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority, or to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.

Changes to this policy

Any change to this policy will be reflected in the last reviewed date at the top of the page. Changes that affect what is collected, in particular the addition of analytics or of any third-party script, will be described here explicitly rather than folded quietly into a rewrite. On 5 September 2026 Google Analytics 4 was added to the site, and the cookies and analytics sections above were rewritten to describe it. Privacy questions go to [email protected].
